Japan is Tea is Japan (film v smartphone)

There's a lot of talk about how great smartphone cameras are these days - the portability and versatility are deniable but for me large cameras and film have a look that are never going to be beat by something that can fit in a pocket. Just check out the difference in exposure, depth of field, leaf greens and sky blues between the two pictures. One is take on a Motorola One Vision, the other taken on Pentax 645 with RVP 50 film.

While modern technology keeps moving forward, it doesn't always capture what made the past so great.

Japanese tea on the other hand has no competition! ;)

Autumn again

Hand of time

Hand of time

Every year, I hope to take loads of photos of autumn leaves. There's a small window of opportunity for about a week where the leaves are bright and still on the trees and I expect to have plenty of time. Then before I know it there's been torrential rain and gale force wind... And there's nothing left. Maybe next year...

Day 246

Old school skate

Old school skate

I took photos of some colleagues and their skate buddies and realised I really need to master my focus settings better because these guys were fast! Even though my camera has good focus I struggled to get the shots I wanted and instead had to switch to manual and just rely on them being where I wanted for a photo. I didn't get all the shots I was after but hope they ask me back again so I can use more lights next time!

Hand plant!

Hand plant!

I didn't realise how dangerous out off control boards are until one time it just decided to fly off and nearly hit me in the face at point blank range!
